Senior Design Engineer

Cressall Resistors has 100 years experience producing power resistors for use in the electrotechnical market.

With design and manufacturing facilities within their Leicester facility, Cressall can supply both standard and custom designed resistors for any application from a few watts up to several megawatts and for operation at any voltage.

Cressall manufactures one of the widest range of electrical power resistors in the world for applications such as dynamic braking for industrial drives and the traction industry, neutral earthing for MV transformer and generator protection, as well as harmonic filters, motor starters and a range of portable load banks for on-site load testing. They are five years into their implementation of Lean Manufacturing and have a Quality Management System approved to ISO 9001:2000.

Your skills

You have a good standard of education and appropriate experience in electrical or mechanical engineering in a manufacturing or contracting company. Knowledge of and experience with MV switchgear and systems would be an advantage.

You will need to show good self-discipline and negotiating skills, a strong personality and a willingness to take responsibility. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Senior Design Engineer

To work in the creation of cost-effective designs, including product testing and support for our sales team, using the latest 3D CAD and simulation tools and test equipment.

  1. The role of the Senior Design Engineer is principally to design and prepare data and information for the manufacture of the Cressall product range ultimately achieving the customers' technical and quality expectations.
  2. The role is pivotal to the business as it will be the main point of contact from product's inception through to its market introduction and continuous improvement. The breadth and criticality of this role cannot be understated as the foundation for success within production is built upon the work done by the Design team.
  3. Because of the specific nature of both product and processes it is essential that this individual has an excellent grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and subsequent operations ideally with strong project management skills.
  4. The appointed individual must continually strive for technical excellence and must have the correct mindset to grasp issues surrounding engineering (and ideally production processes).
