Proven Covid-19 ventilator available for immediate trial
To help tackle shortages of ventilators across Europe and to support the fight against COVID-19, Italian company ISINNOVA has patented a new mask design that can be used as a temporary replacement for standard ventilation equipment.
By adjusting a snorkelling mask created by Decathlon International that is already available on the market, and with the addition of Isinnova’s 3D printed valves, the two companies have created a potentially lifesaving innovation. The masks have already been tested at the Chiari hospital in Italy, and proved effective.
One of Cressall’s Italian suppliers, Ellena spa partnering with SPEM, Additive Manufacturing Company, has also produced 3D components to make the masks usable for doctors and patients. They have been studied a version for healthcare personnel in order to protect using the mask plus HME filters.
